Each painting FRAMED is 10-9/16 by 9-5/8 inches. Each Painting BOARD ONLY (not including frame) 8-inches by 7-inches. About 1.5-inches deep. DESCRIPTION: RESERVE IS VERY VERY LOW! Please do not ask the reserve, I will not disclose as a courtesy to all bidders, thank you. This is a set of 8 original authentic oil paintings on board by Charles Alfred Weigel, 1883-1964. These have been on a living room wall for decades. I purchased them from an estate this past weekend, and I was told that they were from the 1940s as was most of the other items in the house. After researching a bit, it appears that this is the typical style of Weigel's work from the 40s and early 50s, and the frames are dated to that time, so most likely 1940s original frames as well. If you have concerns about the dating of these paintings, please research before bidding, as they are being sold as vintage paintings, but I am not an expert and cannot guarantee the dates. However, I do guarantee they are authentic Weigel. These have paper labels on the back that are mostly still intact, which is amazing for their age. These are the harder to come by small paintings. I will not break up this set of 8, thanks for not asking. These are in wonderful vintage condition and in my opinion, ready to hang. They could use a light cleaning, but do display nicely as is. Please log onto askart.com or run a google search for Charles Alfred Weigel and you will see tons of info about this talented artist. One of his oil paintings recently sold for $650 on a well known website. A pair of two 10x13 Weigel oils recently sold (2009) for $500, both in the Jewels in Color series, not including buyer's premium which adds usually around 18 percent. Titles of these eight paintings are, as best I can read off the paper labels: COTTAGES BY THE SEA Laguna Beach; _____ & SURF (can't read) Monterey Peninsula; NEAR LA QUINTA South of Palm Springs; MT HOOD & LOST LAKE Oregon; THE FAIRWAY Near Pebble Beach; POINT LOBOS Monterey Peninsula; MT SAN JACINTO Near Palm Springs; COOTILLO IN BLOOM Near La Quinta. Please pardon any mispellings of mine or any labels that I've misread, they are hard to read in some places. CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition, considering their age. Minor nicks to frames, nothing detracting. Paintings have minor soiling that might stand a good cleaning, and there are a few minor cracks, nothing detracting. Colors are bright and paint is beautiful for the age. Paintings show expected signs of age, but nothing out of the ordinary, and display very nicely. Please view all 51 photos!
