This Stunning Modernist portrait of a woman with flowers is an original oil on canvas by the listed Dutch artist Karel Wiggers (1916-1989). The artist, a superb colorist, stylized the image into simplified, elegant, flattened shapes, describing the scene with just the few, carefully selected tones! In perfect balance, well defined areas rest on each other like in a card house... It is only the beautiful face, that gets special treatment, eloquently rendered with just a few precise, additional brush strokes. This Karel Wigger's painting is a work of a master of taste and economy! The piece is signed by the artist in the lower right. The back of the canvas contains a write-up on the artist. The image measures 20" x 25", 23 1/2" x 28 1/2" in a gorgeous, antique style custom frame, made specifically for the piece, as always, free of charge to our clients. Condition report: The painting is in excellent shape. It does have some very minor surface cracks due to the age, and some scuffs here and there, which are barely noticeable to the naked eye. The new frame is also in excellent shape. The artist's artwork is solid investment.
