Gorgeous Antique Victorian Roses Still Life Painting Description: A very beautiful and very well painted unsigned antique 19th C. American Victorian still life painting of pretty yellow roses. This fine painting depicts yellow roses on a table top, beautiful use of light and color shading making the roses bright and lively, notice the reflection of light of the silky looking petals and leaves. The painting is an oil on canvas and retains the original carved wood and gesso gilt frame...notice the back the same color as the stretcher...they have been together forever. The painting is unsigned in the front but the back reads in pencil, as best I can decipher, "Painted by Maud DuCliff"...That's what is see. Size: Painting measures 14" x 18" and overall is 18 1/4" x 22 1/4". Condition: Very good condition, I see no condition issues other than two very small 1/4" dots of touch up spots, I guarantee you will never see them...The frame has a small nickel size chip of the gesso in the upper right, I toned it in a little and is hardly noticeable unless your looking for it...other small little nibbles to the gilt and gesso on the frame also.
