In the lower right section of the painting you can see an overturned stool and a shoe, where the young lady must have fallen and twisted her ankle. The local country doctor has come to bind it, while the husband looks on. This dark room has a warm glow, provided by a bright kerosene lamp on a table to the left of the painting. It is very difficult to see, but the artist signature is in the lower left hand corner. I can make out the initial F. but thats it. There are two old owner's labels on the back, but the information was scratched of many years ago. Because of the quality Im sure this painting is by a noted artist.
