You are bidding on one (1) Joseph Henry Sharp Signed Oil On Canvas Painting Yes, we did sell this painting at a Buy It Now price of $4000 last week. It was paid for, but the buyer experienced a serious financial set-back 2 days later (before even receiving it). He has asked us to re-list it for him...hence the second listing: Here's a gorgeous antique oil on canvas painting that dates back to right around 1915. This Native American scene is signed by Joseph Henry (JH) Sharp and measures 14" H x 18" W. Sharp is credited with influencing the creation of the Taos, New Mexico Society of Artists after originally visiting in 1883. He eventually came to be known as the Spiritual Father of the Taos Art Colony. In 1909, he established his own studio in an old chapel in Taos and this piece reflects the red brick clay of New Mexico as its basic color scheme. We're not sure if this is a finished piece or if it's an oil study. There is a bit of paint loss on some of the edges (see photo), but it's in nice overall condition for its age. It comes with an antique frame which is not original to the piece itself.
