18th C. French Portrait Minature Painting Picture(s) and Description:

18th

I am a collector, not an expert in art or in portrait miniatures. I will be describing this portrait as it was described to me by the dealer that I purchased it from. She is a very reputable miniature portrait dealer with an excellent reputation in the field and I am comfortable relying on the information that she has provided me with in the past. A French School watercolor portrait miniature, around circa 1795, although I have been told by another expert it could be slightly later, of a woman and two children. The woman could be a mother or a nanny. The woman is seated in a chair with the baby in her lap and the older child leaning against her. There are red drapes in the background, a basket with fabric on the left and a basket with letters or papers in it on a table at the right. The portrait is set in an antique copper frame which had a bronze finish, much of which has worn off, with a hanging hook and easel on a solid reverse. Dimensions: the portrait itself is 3 inches diameter, with the frame it is 4 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches tall. Condition: Excellent. Note: It looks like there are white specks in the background in my pictures, I don't know what that is but there are no white specks if you see it in person. A charming portrait miniature, in excellent condition, of a great subject matter. Bid with Confidence, I guarantee satisfaction or your money back! Buyer pays return shipping. I ship to U.S. only. I will reveal the reserve if asked, just contact me by email. On Mar-08-10 at 00:19:42 PST, seller added the following information: The portrait is painted on organic material consistent with what was used during the period.
